whitman hanson girls' soccer

The Whitman Hanson girls’ soccer team advanced to the South Sectional semi-finals with a 6-0 win over Newton South. Alexis Fruzzetti opened the scoring 12 minutes in to the match when she took a deflection off of Rachel Kelly and tucked it in to the net. That jump started the offense as the Panthers scored 4 more goals in the next 12 minutes. Lauren Bonavita took a Rachel Kelly pass and put it past the goalkeeper, Taylor Kofton blasted a 35yd free kick in to the upper corner and Taylor Robertson put two away. After the 5-0 score at half, Whitman Hanson came out in the second half and Kofton scored her second goal 3 minutes in to the half.  The Whitman Hanson defense was strong all night keeping the Newton South offense in check. Kelsey Gilbert, Madison Shea, Sammi Smith and Elana Wood were strong defensively. Lindsay Anderson and Eve Montgomery were strong in the midfield.
